I don't do energy drinks. I have high blood pressure, among other things, and energy drinks are not recommended for anyone with high blood pressure. I read several reviews, and the one that kept being mentioned as being the best tasting energy drink is Red Bull. In fact, Red Bull is considered such a good tasting energy drink that it is the one that all the other energy drinks were compared to.
Red Bull is not only a good-tasting energy drink; it is the original energy drink. I remember that when Red Bull came out, everyone I talked to said it tastes good, and does the job of giving the consumer a lot of energy. However, not everyone likes Red Bull energy drink. Some people want something more natural, without all the chemicals that Red Bull uses. Other people want something with a more fruity taste, and still others want something that “enhances their metabolic profile “(i.e., contains a lot of vitamins and minerals with few or no calories).
For those who don't like Red Bull for one reason or another, there are a variety of energy drinks and vitamin waters. One of the ones I reviewed is called “Rip It Atomic Pom Energy Fuel”. This energy drink contains 66 grams of carbohydrate (sugar) and 260 calories. This is comparable to a can of coke, but to me it seems excessive. Of course, my nutritionist suggests an upper limit of 45g of carbohydrate/ meal. This energy drink is worth a meal and a half according to that standard.
The taste of this energy drink, unlike that of Red Bull, is supposed to resemble that of pomegranate. Since grenadine is one of the main ingredients, and since grenadine is made from pomegranate juice and sugar, both the taste and the large amount of sugar in the drink are explained. Whatever the drink owes its flavor too, the reviews I read all agreed that this drink, instead of starting tasting great and then backing off in flavor, does the opposite; that is, the flavor of this drink seems to get better with every sip. This drink got an overall score of 9.4, which is more than most others got and qualifies it as one of the best tasting energy drink.
The next best tasting energy drink, called Go Fast got a 6.4 on the rating scale, and owed much of its appeal to being sugar-free instead of sugar-laden. Not only that, but instead of caffeine, this drink has extra amounts of all three of the major B Vitamins.
